Report

It was the first home game that the under 19's have had in quite a while but it was well worth the wait. The seagulls started like a house on fire with the visitors struggling to cope with weston's superior movement and attacking prowess.

At the start of play Reading sat in 2nd place in the league and came with a big reputation as expected, being a championship side. But it was the Weston players that shone with Grubb pulling the strings in midfield and hodrien and Harris a constant threat in attack.

The second half was a much more even contest with Reading throwing their big centre half upfront and adopting a more direct style of play. It was now the chance forthe defence to shine. Cureton and evans were solid in a backline that also saw Farmer and Gumble soak up the pressure before electing to pass their way out of trouble. This tactic worked with Weston taking the lions share of the chances. Harris came close on a number of occations and was denied a blatant penalty. Even the left back, henry Gumble was in on the act, popping up at the back stick with a volley that looked over the line by a good 2 feet only to see the ref wave play on.

Reading were not finished yet though and on 80 minutes their number 10 was judged onside to slot past Dancey. The tiring Seagulls then failed to clear a cross and the full timers finished at the second attempt to set up a tense finish. But it was the Seagulls night and after 4 minutes of injury time their valant effort was rewarded with another 3 points.
